Re-Cognizing Harassment with the Arts

Absent mechanisms of restorative justice, victims sexual harassment, particularly those within the LGBT+ community that are already frequent targets relational aggression, unlikely to either report or reckon with consequences inappropriate workplace behaviors and discrimination. Written from perspective a masculinized bisexual whose encounter pervasive culture harassment psychological abuse provoked suicidal ideation, this paper employs artistic practices illustration as means first re-cognizing recognizing phenomena, Ricœurean construct narrative palimpsest multivocal text images evoke lived experience an analytic layer invoke phenomenon. By drawing, writing, thinking through phenomenon, marriage phenomenological approaches allows both researcher reader confront ‘painful truths’ otherwise resist easy analysis.
